In Canada they all have big houses

That's what you see first when you get to Canada. All the houses are two-stories high (deux étages), and seem big from the street. But don't believe in it, they all use only half of it...

Eh oui, dans la plupart des maisons canadiennes, le propriétaire utilise la moitié de la maison, et loue l'autre moitié. Everybody has some roomates or some tenants, it helps paying off the mortgage...

That's why the houses are so big, because they have a suite and a rear door. The equation 1 house = 1 family is wrong in Canada. And so less than half the population really owns a house...
