What about alcohol?

Looking for alcohol in Canada? Don't try to get in the grocery stores, you won't find any. Two places to find drink-at-home-alcohol in Canada :
  • The licensed liquor stores
  • The cold beer and wine stores
The choice is bigger in the liquor stores, but they are open only during the day, closing around 6pm. The cold beer and wine are open way longer through the night, perfect for emergency drinks.

Of course, the prices are way more expensive than in France (don't even talk about Spain ;)), and the choice is smaller. I don't find any European wine at all, well, yes just a few Italian wines, and one or two expensive french bottles (when you're lucky).

And they only know the Cabernet-Sauvignon, the Merlot and the Pinto Grigio. No muscat, no manzana, and all wines coming from BC, Chile or Australia... They don't taste the same as a Gaillac, that's for sure !! ;) I'm not a wine lover, but I wasn't disappointed in France by any bottle I bought, when here they have a bitter after state. No sweet wines at all either pour l'apéro, quel désespoir !
